Armitage was the US representative during talks with the Vietnamese throughout the Reagan years. His first trip back as the official representative for the US government came in February of 1982 as a direct cause of Bobby Muller’s December 1981 trip. Armitage continued a career in politics and reflects his unique insights on the Iraq War when he served as Deputy Secretary of State for President George W. Bush.
